Community Banker Alert
To: All PACB Members
From: Frank A. Pinto, President/CEO
Subject: Contact Your Legislators Now in Opposition to Sales Tax Expansion
Date: December 5, 2005
The proposals that would expand the sales tax to professional services including banking services are still very much alive in the General Assembly and we expect votes in the House and Senate shortly on this issue.
If you have not already contacted your state legislators, I strongly urge you to do so. Every PACB member needs to take the time to express your opposition to expanding the sales tax to professional services including banking. The bottom-line is if these proposals are enacted, and we are extremely concerned that they may be, your community bank and your customers will pay more taxes.
PACB continues to aggressively work against these proposals and is part of a diverse coalition working together on Capitol Hill to defeat the sales tax expansion. We cannot do this alone, however. Please take the time to call or email your legislators now.
I have attached to this alert a letter PACB sent last week to the entire General Assembly. If you need anything from us for your contacts, please do not hesitate to call Dave Transue, our government affairs consultant.
