Community Banker Alert

To: All Pennsylvania Community Bankers

From: Frank A. Pinto, President/CEO

Subject: Urgent Contacts Needed to Stop Farm Credit Grab

Date: July 25, 2007

This has been a busy week for community banking and we are asking you to take time out of your busy schedule to contact your Congressional Representative(s), preferably by telephone, and urge them to support the Frank-Bachus Amendment to the Farm Bill. This amendment would remove the harmful provisions that expand the Farm Credit System (FCS) at the expense of community banks. Without adoption of the Frank-Bachus amendment, the Farm Bill would allow Farm Credit Institutions – which are government-sponsored lenders created to lend to farmers – to lend to a host of commercial businesses not owned by farmers and provide mortgages to non-farm families in many of our nation’s largest suburbs.

Timing for your contacts is critical. The Farm Bill is expected to be considered in the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday, July 26th so please take the time now to make your calls. Again, your message is simple: Support the Frank-Bachus Amendment to the Farm Bill.

If you need anything from PACB, please call Dave Transue and he will be happy to assist you.

We are attaching our latest communication to our Congressional Delegation. Feel free to reference this memorandum as you make your contacts.

Thanks so much for your attention to this vital issue.
