The Seventh Annual Walk for Warmth was held Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Fayette Area Lion’s Den. MCS Bank in partnership with United Way of Mifflin-Juniata would like to thank all of those that contributed either by walking, making monetary donations, or both. This year’s event raised $8,005.86, and in the seven years of this event, a total of $60,087.47 has been raised to help support the local Mifflin-Juniata Energy Bank.
A special thank you to the Lion’s Den staff for continued use of the facility and to Kish Printing & Promotional Products for the pledge forms. Genuine appreciation is also felt for all the community agencies who shared information and provided crafts, face painting, door prizes, and more. Those agencies are as follows: EDSI, Primary Health Network, St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, MidPenn Legal Services, Aktion Club, NuVisions Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Fayette Area Lions’ Den Fitness Staff, and United Way of Mifflin-Juniata. A very special thanks is given to Matt Witzel for providing us with fun music and a great atmosphere, as well as Rocco Pallotto of WMRF Radio and the MERF Dog for promoting and attending Walk for Warmth.
The Mifflin-Juniata Energy Bank provides heat assistance to families who fail to qualify for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funding due to income ineligibility or those 65 or older. This event reminds us that as a community we can help those in need most effectively when we come together and truly LIVE UNITED.
