Q. I’VE HEARD THAT PACB NOW HAS PACB CONNECT!, A NEW TYPE OF SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM. IS THAT TRUE? A. Well, yes (and no, actually). PACB CONNECT! is a social medial platform, much like what most of us are accustomed to. However, it’s even better! It’s built just for community bank leaders, employees, associate PACB members, providers, and others in the Pennsylvania community banking marketspace.
It also allows for an exchange of information and ideas, discussions on topics of interest “just for community bankers,” and serves as a library and archive for important events and happenings of PACB.
Best of all, it’s vastly different from a social media platform such as Facebook – you can adjust your settings at any time, keep out content you don’t want to see, and at CONNECT!, followers can stay free of ads or information that is not banking-related.
Q. WHERE DO I FIND PACB CONNECT! ONLINE, AND GET STARTED AS PART OF ITS MANY ONLINE GROUPS? A. It’s easy: It can be found at pacb.connectedcommunity.org. Once there, establish a user profile, add a photo if you like, include some background points of interest (if you wish to), and then explore and join the many communities found there. Join in those communities you find of interest, or refine your interests as you delve into the many discussions and explore the libraries found in many of them.
Please note that some communities are restricted access – association committees, board activities and meetings, areas of special interest (i.e., CEO Peer-To-Peer, etc.), while most are open to anyone. Also note that some are accessible with no moderation, while others are self-moderated for content in postings. And best of all, new communities will be added as time goes along!
Q. WHAT DOES PACB HAVE PLANNED FOR THE FUTURE OF PABC CONNECT!? A. Over time, PACB will be adding new content, new communities and new ways to deliver information via this platform, and to showcase and highlight the services and products offered by it's preferred providers and all members.
PACB will be utilizing this platform to communicate news, educational programming opportunities, Board and committee information, and more – in the hopes of scaling back its outbound email and paper flow to members, bank team members, and committee-persons.
It’s much easier to reference information online from anywhere, than to rely on looking for and finding something in an email inbox, or on the desk.
And it’s your option to select how you wish to get notifications of new information, based on the communities you are subscribed to – in real time, anytime a new message is posted; as a daily digest, sending one email to you each day – or as a consolidated email (combining multiple communities into one notification email).
You can also elect to receive no emails – which allows you to be part of a group without having emails sent to you. (You would still be able to post and read others’ messages by logging into the community site).
Q. WHAT IF I ENCOUNTER AN ISSUE WHEN ACCESSING THIS NEW PLATFORM, OR SIMPLY HAVE A HELP QUESTION? A. PACB CONNECT! works seamlessly with PACB’s member database system, and the two synchronize daily. In other words, if your organizational information is up-to-date and in the PACB database, you should be able to establish an account at PABC CONNECT! and be able to successfully access a variety of communities.
